The Small Arms of the Great War

What is it all about, anyway? A word on collecting and biting fleas.

Typewriters, books, Barbie dolls, knives - every collector starts somewhere. My personal flea that bit me are rifles of the Great War, particularly European infantry models. This hobby has let me meet a ton of very interesting characters (you know who you are), so I created this site to give some of it back.

The intention is a starting point for new collectors of military small arms: help identifying and learning the basics of what you might see in a shop, a video game, a movie or grandpa’s attic. Over time it should grow into a comprehensive database of the models that existed through the late 19th and early 20th century, how they came to be, and plenty of reference pictures to go with them.

This is a passion project and grows in spare time - the site is a work in progress, so do visit from time to time.
